Charge the car. Heat the water. Check your tariff.

Ireland’s market signal can help you plan flexible electricity use. Whether that lowers your bill depends on a flat rate, a smart time-of-use plan or a dynamic tariff.

The immersion is a practical place to start.

A short, flexible hot-water task is easier to assess than your whole day’s electricity. Choose “Heat water”, estimate the kWh and say how long you can wait. Use your own immersion or cylinder controls; CheapestHours does not turn the heater on or manage water temperature.

Enter the energy you need to add, rather than the car’s full battery capacity. Check any dedicated night rate on your plan.

Compare the flexible heating energy. Your supplier’s published half-hour prices take priority for a dynamic retail tariff.

Use the washer or dryer choice and edit the estimate. A cheaper market window is useful only if your contract rewards shifting.

One all-island market, different household contracts.

The Single Electricity Market covers Ireland and Northern Ireland. The IE signal on this page is a wholesale reference, not a tariff offered to every household on the island. A smart meter provides usage information; it does not automatically put you on a smart tariff. CRU advises discussing the available services with your supplier.

Before you run an appliance

Is my smart meter already using a dynamic price?

Not necessarily. A smart meter is the measuring device. Check the contract you signed and ask the supplier which tariff and smart services are active.

Does this page cover Northern Ireland’s household rates?

No. The wholesale market is shared, but supplier offers, regulation and household bills differ. This page does not calculate a Northern Ireland retail tariff.

Will the result include the PSO levy and VAT?

No. The estimate concerns the market-price component. Standing charges, network costs, supplier terms, levies and taxes are outside the calculation.

Can I book a continuous charging session for tomorrow?

The tool does not control or book charging. It uses available prices and does not predict unpublished ones. Entering a runtime does not guarantee a continuous window of exactly that length.
