A solar-rich market. Your own utility rate.

Choose a CAISO trading hub, then compare flexible electricity use. A midday wholesale dip and your utility’s off-peak rate are different signals.

Pick a hub, not a utility service territory.

NP15, SP15 and ZP26 are CAISO trading hubs. They are not an address lookup and do not uniquely identify PG&E, SCE, SDG&E, a municipal utility or a community choice provider. NP15 is just the initial selection. A hub price is a reference for the market, not a promise that your meter pays that price.

The duck curve describes net demand, not your bill.

CAISO’s duck curve describes demand after variable renewable generation is accounted for: solar can reduce net demand during daylight, followed by an evening ramp. That can affect market conditions, but it does not guarantee the same price pattern every day. Rooftop solar exports have their own compensation rules; this tool does not calculate export credits or battery dispatch.

Before you run an appliance

Is NP15 the electricity rate for all PG&E customers?

No. It is a trading-hub signal, not a PG&E tariff. Your provider, rate plan and bill determine the price you pay.

Does a low hub price mean I should export rooftop solar?

Not by itself. Import rates and export compensation are different. This tool does not evaluate your solar tariff, self-consumption or battery strategy.

Are the displayed times Pacific time?

Yes. This page uses Los Angeles time with seasonal clock changes, and includes dates so a next-day observation is distinguishable from today.

Can I reserve a continuous charging window?

No. The tool does not control or book charging, and a supplied runtime does not guarantee a continuous block of exactly that length. Use the result only within your actual tariff and charging constraints.
